Task Force and the WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award.

We are delighted to share that our partners,   Arogya World and The NCDI Poverty Network, are the recipients of the prestigious 2022 UN Interagency Task Force and the WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award.

Arogya World received the award for their excellent work in scaling up community-based delivery models to strengthen the prevention and control of diabetes at the population level, across 19 states in India.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Nalini Saligram, Founder & CEO Arogya World said that it is a proud moment for the organisation and while it is a recognition of years of handwork, it instils in them a greater sense of responsibility and encourages them continue to implement well-designed programs that deliver measurable public health impact.”

The NCDI Poverty Network was also one of 18 organizations to receive the award, along with Arogya World.  The Network was recognized for its “global contribution to generate data, implement programmes, foster multisectoral partnerships, and raise awareness to prevent and reduce the death and suffering of those doubly affected by extreme poverty and NCDs and injuries.”

The awards were conferred during the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting in New York, at the UN Interagency Task Force for the Prevention and Control on Noncommunicable Diseases Friends of the Task Force side event on 21 September 2022. Eighteen organisations, within three categories – ministries of health (or government agency under a ministry of health); ministries (or government agencies) beyond health; and non-state actors (non-governmental organization, academic institutions and philanthropy) were the recipients of the 2022 awards.
